The annual UNC Symposium for Research Administrators (Symposium) is an event designed to keep the campus research community informed on the latest policies, regulations, and best practices in sponsored program administration. Symposium is open to all administrators, faculty, and staff involved in research activities. Whether individuals work in central research or compliance offices, serve as department or clinical administrators, support financial operations, direct core facilities, or lead projects as principal investigators, the event provides valuable insights to strengthen their understanding of research administration and compliance at UNC.

2026 Symposiums
For the first time, in 2026, the Symposium will be held twice—in Spring and Fall. The School of Medicine RAISE and the Office of Sponsored Programs are partnering to host the Spring Symposium to strengthen SOM‑specific research administration support and learning opportunities.

Spring Session: May 18 and 19

  • There will be a dedicated track of sessions on School of Medicine topics, along with sessions open to the broader campus community.

Fall Session: September 23 – 24
